On Wednesday, the Lincoln High School Girls’ 1st XI travelled to the Ashburton Domain to take part in the inaugural Ashburton Cricket Festival, alongside nine other schools. Teams from CCCA, Mid Canterbury, and Christchurch competed in a fantastic day of cricket played in perfect conditions.

Each team played two T20 matches on grass wickets. Our first match was against Geraldine/Roncalli Schools. The game was extended to a full T20 and proved to be a very tight contest, with Geraldine/Roncalli edging the win in the final over.

In the afternoon we faced Mt Hutt College in an enjoyable match against a developing side with plenty of potential.

A big thank you to Lily Hayston for captaining and leading the team so well throughout the day. We also appreciate the support from parents who helped with transport and came along to support the girls.

Thank you to Canterbury Cricket for organising the event and to Mid Canterbury for providing such an excellent venue at the Ashburton Domain.
